Sing a New Song

There was a time in my life when country music and love novels had the power of slavery over me. To briefly explain allow me to simply say every “cry in my beer” song was in my mind about ME. Every love novel left me in search of the perfect man. Both the search and pity were Satan’s chains of regret, lust, hopelessness and a cycle of unhealthy sinful relationships.

Today I sing a new song! At times I hear some of the old lyrics in my heart and mind but now they ring out true love, the love of Christ. An example of that would be “Have I Told You Lately”.

Have I told you lately that I love you
Could I tell you once again somehow
Have I told with all my heart and soul how I adore you
Well Jesus I'm telling you now

My world would end today if I should lose you
I'm no good without you, anyhow
This heart would break in two if you refuse me
Well Jesus I'm telling you now

His love in return is true and pure; for He will never refuse us. So this morning I ask, are you singing a new song? No longer let the songs of regret or hopelessness fill the spot that God so wants to fill. Lift your voice and sing a new song, one of love for the true LOVER of your soul!

“Sing a new song to the LORD! Let the whole earth sing to the LORD! Sing to the LORD; bless his name. Each day proclaim the good news that he saves. Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does.” Psalms 96:1-3 NLT

  1. Linda - this could be my testimony also, except mine was rock and roll. Music was (and still is) a big part of my life. Today, I enjoy listening to Contemporary Christian music - so much more edifying and uplifting that the things I once enjoyed.

Although I still listen to secular songs now and then, they don't hold the same interest for me now.

Glad you dropped by. Hope you enjoyed your visit. Please leave a comment. I would love to hear your thoughts, for iron sharpens iron.

May the Lord bless you,
Linda J
