Running

What is the love of your life? What is the one thing you feel you simply must do?  For my 15 year old grand-daughter, Cheyenne it is running. Last year she fell in love with cross country running. When the school team came to the end of that season, she did not hang up her shoes. Instead she started running with the track team and even competing in local races. Recently due to a blow she received to her eye, she was benched. The blow caused blood to pool in and behind the eye. Running could cause the condition to worsen with a chance of losing sight in that eye. So she had to sit her running aside. Pretty sure she thought nothing could be more painful than not being able to run. Her words were “I have to run, it’s in my blood”. Jokingly I told her she didn’t get that from my blood pool (DNA).

So what love of my life will I pass on to my grandchildren? One thing I would like to pass on is my love for praying. Prayer is the one thing I feel I simply must do. Do I always get it right? No! Do I at times sit myself on the bench? Yes! Still like Cheyenne my soul cries out “I have to pray, it’s in my blood”. You might even say I found complete fulfillment in running to the cross.

E. M. Bound said this of prayer. “Prayer should not be regarded as a duty which must be performed, but rather as a privilege to be enjoyed, a rare delight that is always revealing some new beauty."

Scripture Reference:
“The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him sincerely and in truth. He will fulfill the desires of those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him; He also will hear their cry and will save them.”
Ps. 145:18-19 AMP
